We live in a Jesus haunted culture that is Biblically illiterate, and so unfortunately at this point in time, almost anything can pass for knowledge of the historical Jesus from notions that he was a a Cynic sage to ideas that he was a Gnostic guru to fantasies that he didn't exist, to Dan Browne's Jesus of hysterical (rather than historical) fiction.

Indeed. And few are willing to deal with the well-documented, but Christianity-contradicting facts at:

Hello Yirmeyahu...
Thanks for dropping by, I hope you took the time to read the article I referenced, because the site you cited seems to be a little behind the curve on the pace of historical scholarship. Credible historians all make a real effort to understand Jesus precisely as a Jew, within his Jewish context. And certainly my pastor attempted to do the same in his preaching and teaching...
I had a little difficulty navigating the site you referenced, perhaps you could briefly summarize a few of the points you think are so damaging to Christianity? The biggest contention I could glean from the site had to do with the Hellenization of his name, but surely you cannot make too much of this?
After all that argument is rather besides the point, and only works with English speakers... (non-English speakers don't call him 'Jesus' they call him whatever his name translates into in their language, kinda like Latino's calling me 'Estevan' even though thats not my real name...)
What are the specific gripes you have with a scholarship that undergirds Christian faith?
I guess we should remedy this problem the same way as any other, clasp our hands together in prayer. The real Jesus can always be found in relationship....relationship with Him. Take care brother.
